Man accused of assaulting police after Gold Coast car crash

A man’s due in court today after allegedly becoming violent and assaulting police following a car crash on the Gold Coast.

The accident happened on Binstead Way in Pacific Pines around 11.45pm on Thursday.

It’s understood the vehicle left the road before crashing into a tree and light pole.


A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC that when officers tried to retrain the man, he allegedly became aggressive.

He was eventually taken into custody before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he was treated for a head wound.

The 32-year-old from Pacific Pines has since been charged with serious assault of police and obstructing police, with further charges likely.

He’s due in Southport Magistrates Court today.
