Man accused of killing woman in house near active murder scene

A MAN has been charged with killing a woman in a house less than 4km away from an active murder scene in Melbourne.

Police were called to the Redwood Ave home in Hampton Park where they found the woman’s body just before midday on Saturday.

It’s not known how she died, or whether she was found with any physical injuries.

Homicide detectives were in the area, investigating the murder of another woman just 10 minutes away in Cranbourne North when they got the call.

A 45-year-old man was arrested at the Hampton Park home and spent the night in custody, being questioned by police.

Victoria Police released a statement on Sunday, confirming the man had been charged with one count of murder.

He was remanded in custody and expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.

It comes after a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder over the death of the woman in Cranbourne North.

Her body was found in the backyard of the a house on Maria Court following a fire.
