Man accused of performing act of indecency while ‘sexually touching’ teen on bus

A man has been charged after he allegedly performed an act of indecency while sexually touching a teenage girl on a bus.

Around 11am on Sunday, a 17-year-old girl was walking through a petrol station in Marrickville when an unknown man attempted to speak to her.

Police said the girl ignored the man and continued walking to a nearby bus stop, where the man again allegedly tried to speak to her.

She then boarded a bus and the man continued to follow.

“It’s alleged the man sat next to the girl and touched her inappropriately while performing an indecent act,” NSW police said in a statement.

Members of the public intervened and detained the man until police arrived on scene and took him into custody.

The 53-year-old has since been charged with sexually touch another person without consent, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, and carry out sexual act with another without consent.

The man was refused bail to appear at Paramatta Local Court today.
