A MAN accused of shooting a Gold Coast police officer following an armed robbery is due to face court today.
Robert George Speedy was allegedly on the run from an armed robbery at Arundel Tavern in 2013, when he shot Sergeant Gary Hamrey in the face.
Speedy has been charged with armed robbery, deprivation of liberty and attempted murder.

His trial, which is predicted to go for 5 days, starts in the Brisbane Supreme Court today.
