Man accused of stealing Mercedes Benz in NSW arrested on the Gold Coast

A MAN who allegedly stole a Mercedes Benz from a house in northern NSW last night and drove it across the border into Queensland has been arrested on the Gold Coast.

Police said the 23-year-old had allegedly stolen the luxury vehicle, along with cash and an iPad from a house on Byangum Road at Murwillumbah around 6pm.

Following investigations, Queensland Police arrested the man at a property in Coolangatta overnight.


He was taken to Southport Watch House where he was charged with unlawful use of motor vehicle, driver of any motor vehicle on road failing to stop at road incident, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

The 23-year-old was remanded in custody and due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Police will seek to have the man extradited to back to NSW.
