Man accused of pouring petrol on woman on NSW central coast

A man will face court on Sunday after a woman told police she had petrol poured on her during an alleged domestic dispute on the Central Coast overnight.

About 11pm on Saturday night emergency services were called to a Budgewoi address after reports of a domestic argument.

It will be alleged a 55-year-old man poured petrol on a 48-year-old woman at the address. Attempts to ignite the petrol have failed.

The 48-year-old woman was able to call Triple Zero and raise the alarm.

She was assessed on site by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital. She is receiving further treatment in hospital and is understood to be in a stable condition.

The 55-year-old was arrested the scene and taken to Wyong Police Station.

He was charged with burn/maim with a dangerous fluid and refused bail.

The Budgewoi man is expected to appear in Wyong Local Court on Sunday.
