During the struggle, it’s alleged Brisco pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed the sergeant under the jawline.

The officer was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Police said his injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

The sergeant remained in hospital this morning, in a stable condition.

Briscoe was arrested and charged overnight with acts intended to resist lawful arrest (unlawful wounding), going armed so as to cause fear, serious assault police, possession of dangerous drug and obstruct police.

He fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning where he was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday.
