A MAN has been arrested after he allegedly used his car to try and mow down police on a street at Ipswich, west of Brisbane.
The two officers were targeted while responding to a domestic violence call out at a house on Larsen Street in Leichardt just after 12.30am this morning.
When the officers arrived, a vehicle accelerated towards them and mounted the gutter. They were forced to jump out of the vehicle’s path to avoid being hit.

Police said the car then continued along the footpath at high speed before driving back onto the road and heading off towards Toongarra Road.
The vehicle then turned back towards the scene, but it refused to stop.
Officers gave chase but were forced to terminate the pursuit due to safety reasons.
A few hours ago, a 31-year-old Leichardt man was arrested and taken into police custody.
He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
