After being pulled to safety, a wave washed both riders into the water. One of the jet skis hit the original victim in the head. Friends helped him to shore before calling Triple-0.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was first on the scene and assessed the victim for head and neck injuries before paramedics came in to help.

He was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
