Man airlifted to hospital after falling 60m from cliff in NSW

A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling 60 metres from rocks in the Blue Mountains.

About 12.30am today, police said a group of friends had been socialising at the Yellow Rock Lookout when the accident occurred.

“A 20-year-old man appears to have fallen about 60 metres from one of the cliff faces whilst ‘rock hopping’” NSW police said in a statement.

“Members of the group searched for the man whilst others contacted emergency services.”

Emergency crews arrived on scene and were able to make their way down to the man with ropes.

However, due to his serious condition, an Ambulance helicopter was called in to transport him to Westmead Hospital.

The man remains in hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a fractured neck and large amount of bruising and grazing.
