Man airlifted to GC hospital after getting hit by car in Byron Bay

A man is fighting for life in hospital on the Gold Coast after he was hit by a car in Byron Bay yesterday.

The 62-year-old was walking along Byron Street when he attempted to cross Fletcher Street around 5.40 pm last night.

Police allege that as he stepped out onto the road, he was struck by a Toyota station wagon.


The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to the Gold Coast in critical condition.

Police are now investigating the incident, with the female driver taken to Byron Bay Hospital for mandatory testing.
