Qld man allegedly sexually assaulted young girls over two decades

An elderly man has been charged with over 130 historical sexual offences relating to the alleged assault of three young girls over two decades.

The 78-year-old man was taken into custody by detectives from the Child Trauma and Sexual Crime Unit in Sapphire yesterday.

Police say the alleged incidents occurred around North Queensland and Brisbane between the years of 1972 and 1993 against three girls.


The man has been charged with 61 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, 53 counts of rape and three of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
