Man allegedly stole electricity to power hydro cannabis crop in NSW

A man has been charged with stealing electricity to power a hydroponic cannabis operation at his home in Sydney’s south-west.

Police raided the 36-year-old man’s home on King Georges Road at Wiley Park on Wednesday morning.

Officers from the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad searched the property and allegedly found “an amount of drugs believed to be cannabis” and a hydroponic setup.

The 36-year-old man was arrested the scene and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with cultivating a prohibited plant – large commercial quantity, and use/consume/waste electricity without consent.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
