Man allegedly used Snapchat to transmit child exploitation material

AN 18-year-old man has appeared in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with child abuse offences by the Victorian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team.

The man was arrested on Sunday morning after detectives executed search warrants at his Echuca home.

Police will allege that the man used mobile application Snapchat to transmit abuse of a child under the age of 12 years to another user.

He was taken to Echuca Police Station where he was charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child under 12 years, and use of a carriage service to produce and transmit child exploitation material.

Police say further charges have not been ruled out.

He appeared before Bendigo Magistrates’ Court today, and was bailed to reappear on 30 May 2018.
