Man and four teens arrested over spate of robberies

Police have arrested a man and four teenagers in relation to a spate of street robberies in Sydney’s west.

In July 2015, investigators from Flemington Local Area Command formed Strike Force Kurramatta to investigate several late-night street robberies in Lidcombe, Berala and Auburn which occurred throughout June and July 2015.

Police will allege members of the group were approaching victims and robbing them at knifepoint.

About 6am today (Thursday 8 October 2015), officers executed five search warrants on homes in Fairfield, Auburn, Lidcombe and Campsie.

At a home in McKern St, Campsie police arrested a 19-year-old man.

A 16-year-old teen was arrested at a home in Fairfield, while a 17-year-old teen was arrested at a home in Auburn.

Two other teens – a 16-year-old and 17-year-old – were also arrested at homes in Lidcombe.

The man and the four teens were taken to Flemington Police Station where they are currently assisting police with inquiries.

Police are investigating at least six incidents and are expecting to lay charges shortly.
