Man and teen girl hospitalised after moped crash on the Gold Coast

A man and a teenage girl have ended up in hospital after a nasty moped crash overnight.

It’s believed they were travelling at speed along a beach side walkway in Main Beach, when they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole.

Emergency services were called to the scene off Seaworld Drive shortly after 12.30am this morning.

Paramedics treated the man – aged in his early 30s – briefly for a serious leg injury, while the 16-year-old girl reported hip and leg pain.

Both were rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police believe the pair were travelling at speed when the crash occurred, due to the severity of their injuries.

Police will now investigate whether alcohol was involved.
