A man and woman have been charged after allegedly assaulting a toddler in a shocking domestic-related incident in northern NSW.
Earlier this month, officers launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off that a three-year-old boy had been physically assaulted by a woman who was known to him.
During the investigation, detectives received further reports the child had also been assaulted by a man who was known to him.

As part of their inquiries, officers attended a home in Nimbin, where they found the child suffering a number of bruises.
He was taken to Lismore Base Hospital and has since been released into alternative care.
Following ongoing investigations, a 57-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested at Lismore Police Station about 3.40pm yesterday.
The man was charged with assault occasioning actually bodily harm (DV) and breach ADVO, while the woman was charged with assault occasioning actually bodily harm (DV) and breach ADVO.
