Man and woman on the run after armed bank robbery on the Gold Coast

UPDATE @3.00pm September 27 | POLICE have released security footage of a pair of robbers who held up a bank in Burleigh Waters on Thursday.

The man and woman still remain on the run, after using a gun to hold up the Suncorp Bank tellers at Stocklands Burleigh around 3.00pm Thursday afternoon.

The teller complied before the pair ran off with an unknown amount of cash, and got away on a motorcycle.

Police believe they may have located the motorcycle, though are still confirming whether or not it was the getaway vehicle.

Acting Detective Inspector Chris Tritton says members of the public have been monumental in investigations so far, though are still calling for more witnesses.

“Particularly we’re interested in members of the public who may have been in that area from 2.55pm through to at least 3.30pm.

“We have new information that they may have travelled along Dunlin Drive in Burleigh Waters, and may have been pushing the motorcycle.

“We really rely on the public, in particular any dash cam or cctv that may have captured them.

“At this point their faces have been covered, but we’re really hoping to secure some footage from car cams that would identify the offenders.

“At this point we have located the motorcycle – what we believe would be the motorcycle – and we have investigations ongoing there,” Acting Detective Inspector Tritton said.

It’s understood the alleged boss of the Gold Coast’s Hells Angels was one of the people who chased down the pair during their getaway, and is helping police with inquiries.

Police have released security vision from the bank, in the hopes that members of the public may be able to identify the two.
