A MAN armed with a meat cleaver has been arrested after taking two people hostage at a hospital on the NSW Central Coast.
Police said the 28-year-old man stormed the Wyong Public Hospital just after 5pm on Friday.
Once inside, the man allegedly detained a female staff member and threatened her with the meat cleaver.

Police said a male staff member rushed to the woman’s aid, but he too was detained and threatened.
Terrified staff and patients scrambled for safety and called for police.
It’s understood a Highway Patrol officer was first on the scene and managed to successfully disarm the man.
Fortunately, no one was physically injured during the incident.
The 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with two counts of take and detain for advantage and two counts of use offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The man was also charged with numerous other offences relating to domestic violence.
Refused bail, the 28-year-old is due to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
