Man armed with knife robs Mermaid Waters servo

POLICE are investigating the armed robbery of a service station at Mermaid Waters this morning where a man produced a large kitchen knife and made off a till drawer and a bag full of smokes. 

A man entered the 7-Eleven store on Lakeview Drive around 1.15am on Monday and engaged the male attendant in conversation before producing a large kitchen knife, around 15 to 20cm in length, and making demands for money and cigarettes.

The store attendant opened the till when the offender lunged over the counter and attempted to empty the cash drawer.

Clearly struggling, the male employee removes the entire till and hands it over to the bandit. He is then seen throwing countless packets of cigarettes towards the armed man.

The employee also gives the thief a plastic bag which he fills with the stolen smokes.

He fled the scene on foot, carrying the drawer containing money as well as a bag full of cigarettes.

No one was injured during the incident.
