Man arrested after 22yo man found shot dead in NSW park

Homicide Squad detectives have arrested a man in relation to the fatal shooting of another man at Punchbowl in June this year.

Police were called to a park on Mulga Street at Punchbowl about 4.30pm on Monday 29 June 2015 after reports that numerous shots had been fired.

A 22-year-old man from Greenacre was found dead at the scene with gunshot wounds.


Homicide Squad detectives have been investigating the shooting under Strike Force Blancoa.

About 10.30am today (Wednesday 12 August 2015), detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at a home in Renown Street, Wiley Park.

The man was taken to Campsie Police Station where it is anticipated he will be charged with murder.

It is expected he will be refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 13 August 2015).

Investigations are ongoing.
