Man arrested after alleged bomb threats at Australian airports

A MAN has been arrested on the Gold Coast after he allegedly called two of Australia’s largest airports and threatened to blow them up.

It’s alleged the 62-year-old Inala man used a public telephone at Mermaid Waters to make the calls around 9.40am on Saturday.

He allegedly targeted Brisbane and Sydney airports, claiming that there was a bomb on site.

The man was arrested a short time later and subsequently charged with two counts of using a carriage service for a hoax threat.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, July 21.
