Man charged after sparking scare in Palm Beach with gel blaster

LATEST @ 8.00 AM | A man has been charged after sparking a gun scare in Palm Beach.

Police swarmed Laguna Avenue park around 5.30pm yesterday following reports of a man armed with what appeared to be a gun.

The police chopper was also spotted circling the area with fears of an armed man on the loose.

However, upon arrival, police discovered the man had been in possession of a gel blaster.

The 40-year-old from Elanora was taken into custody, with the gel blaster also allegedly confiscated.

He has since been charged with going armed in public to cause fear.

The man will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on April 20.
