A MAN has been arrested at Albury Airport after allegedly trying to board a commercial passenger jet with two knives, a toy gun and a laser packed in his luggage.

The prohibited items were allegedly detected in the 18-year-old’s checked luggage as it passed through the security screening process at the airport on the NSW-Victoria border just after 6am on Thursday.

Police allege a hunting knife, a folding knife, a laser pointer and a toy gun were found in the man’s suitcase.

The items were seized and the 18-year-old from Queensland was arrested.

He was taken to Albury Police Station and this morning was formally charged with two counts of possessing a knife in a public place and possessing a prohibited article (laser pointer).

The young man was also charged with two counts of breaching bail.

He was remanded in custody and due to appear in Albury Local Court today.
