A man has been charged with raping a six-year-old girl more than 20 years ago.
In October 2013, Rosehill Police were made aware of an alleged sexual assault and act of indecency committed by a man upon a young girl in 1991.
The girl, then aged 6, and the man, then aged 45, were neighbours in a street in the Sydney suburb of Granville. The offences are alleged to have occurred at the man’s house.

After making numerous inquiries into the matter, police from Rosehill Local Area Command flew to Cairns earlier this week.
On Tuesday 8 September 2015, they joined local Queensland police officers in executing a search warrant at a property in Mooroobool and a 69-year-old man was arrested at the location.
On Wednesday 9 September 2015, he appeared before Cairns Magistrates Court where Rosehill police successfully applied for his extradition to NSW.
After arriving back in Sydney, officers took the man to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with:
– Sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10; and,
– Committing an act of indecency with a victim under 10 years.
