Man arrested, charged after child abuse material found in storage shed

A MAN will appear in court next month, charged with producing child abuse material following a shocking discovery at a rental storage facility near Byron Bay.

The 45-year-old was arrested this week after a collection of child abuse material was allegedly found stashed away in a storage shed at Ballina.

The owners of the facility made the shocking discovery after the man, who police say had been renting out the space since September last year, defaulted in his rental payments.

Following investigations, the 45-year-old man was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station on Tuesday.

He has since been charged with the production and possession of child abuse material.

The man was released on conditional bail and is due to appear before Ballina Local Court on May 17.
