A man has been arrested and charged with raping a seven-year-old boy in Port Macquarie more than 40 years ago.
Police said they were contacted by a man in 2014 who claimed to have been sexually assaulted multiple times as a seven-year-old boy in 1976.
The man claimed to have been raped by his neighbour.

Following a protracted investigation, detectives from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command yesterday arrested a 69-year-old man near his home at Carrington in Newcastle.
The former tennis coach was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was formally charged with two counts of buggery.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 7 September.
Police encourage any person who has been a victim of any kind of sexual violence, no matter how long ago the incident occurred, to contact police.
