Man arrested following sickening sexual assaults of three women in 3 hours

A man has been charged over the sickening sexual assault of one woman, and the indecent assault of two others, all in the space of just three hours, in Tamworth over the weekend.

In the first incident, just after 11pm on Saturday 19 September 2015, an 18-year-old woman was walking along Kable Avenue when she was allegedly indecently assaulted by an unknown man on a pushbike.

The man asked the woman to go into the park with him and when she refused he rode off.


In the second incident, around 1.55am on Sunday 20 August 2015, a 31-year-old woman was walking along Bridge Street when a man rode past her and indecently assaulted her.

During the third incident, around 2am on Sunday 20 August 2015, a 22-year-old woman was walking through Bicentennial Park when she was allegedly grabbed from behind, forced to the ground and sexually assaulted.

The man then rode away from the scene.

Following inquires, about 1.30pm yesterday, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Crown Street, Tamworth and taken to the local police station.

He was later charged with sexual assault without consent and indecent assault x 2.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Tamworth Local Court today.
