Man arrested following welfare concerns for teen girl

A man is under police guard at hospital following a dramatic incident in southern Sydney today.

Police say that just before 9.30am, officers were called to a vehicle on The Boulevard at Miranda, following concerns about the welfare of a teenage girl.

As police approached the vehicle, it allegedly sped off, injuring an officer.

Police initiated a pursuit however it was terminated due to safety concerns.

Shortly after, police arrested a 46-year-old man at Gymea Railway Station and located a 15-year-old girl nearby.

The man was taken to hospital where he allegedly tried to escape police custody.

The girl, who was  uninjured during the incident, is currently assisting police with investigations.
