Karlie’s remains were found in the Belanglo Forest in NSW in 2010, with the remains of her daughter, two-year-old Khandalyce, found near a suitcase alongside Karoonda Highway near Wynarka in July this year.

Inquiries into the murder of Khandalyce are continuing, police said in a statement.

The arrest comes just days after detectives investigating the horrifying deaths revealed that Karlie Pearce-Stevenson’s bank account and mobile phone were used for years after her death to mislead family and defraud social services.

Almost $100,000 was spent or withdrawn from Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s bank account between November 2008 and March 2012.

It’s believed a man and at least two women were responsible for the financial transactions and have lived at, or been associated with, homes in Davoren Park, Hillbank, Holden Hill and Charnwood, Canberra.

Police believe the mother and daughter were killed in December 2008 at different times and in different locations.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
