Man arrested over Australia’s ‘largest heroin seizure’ in two decades

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection to what police have described as Australia’s biggest heroin seizure in almost two decades.

The man, from Mount Colah, was arrested by detectives at his home in Sydney’s north yesterday.

It comes after a joint investigation by Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and NSW Police Force resulted in officers seizing 347kg of heroin in December 2020.

According to police, the drug bust has stopped more than a million drug deals from going ahead.

“This amount of heroin is worth an estimated $156 million,” NSW Police said.

Detectives are expected to provide further information surrounding the arrest and haul at a press conference in Sydney this morning.

More to come.
