Man charged over alleged theft of Runaway Bay bakery truck
UPDATE: A MAN has been charged over the alleged theft of a bakery truck in Runaway Bay.
The 22-year-old from Surfers Paradise was arrested yesterday and questioned by Police overnight.
It’s alleged he got into the vehicle as the driver was making a delivery on Lae Drive yesterday morning.
He has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle to face Southport Magistrates Court on October 28.
EARLIER: A MAN has spent the night in Police custody, accused of stealing a bakery truck in Runaway Bay.
Around 6:30am on Saturday, the driver got out of his truck while completing a bread delivery at a Lae Drive shopping centre.
It’s alleged man got into the vehicle and drove off.
Police spotted the truck and attempted to intercept it on Hope Island Road at Helensvale a short time later, but the truck failed to stop.
Around 8:30am, the vehicle was seen at an address on Armstrong Road at Biddaddaba where police arrested a man.
A 22-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
No one was injured during the incident.
