Man arrested, remanded in custody over horror knife attack in Sydney’s east

A MAN will face court today, charged with driving a knife through a man’s head in Sydney’s east.

The brutal attack took place at a unit block on Barker Street in Kingsford around 6.30am on Thursday.

Police were called and arrived to find the victim with a number of stab wounds to his head and back.

The victim, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene.

He was then taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remained last night in a serious condition.

Police said the victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The Barker Street unit was declared a crime scene and examined by forensic police.

Following investigations, a 35-year-old man was arrested a few hours later on Gardeners Road.

He has since been charged with wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, assault, resist arrest and malicious damage.

The accused was remanded in custody overnight and was scheduled to front Waverley Local Court today.
