Man arrested after shocking attack on Sydney hospital security guard

A man is under police guard in hospital after a shocking attack on a security guard at a hospital in Sydney’s west.

Police said the violent assault happened around 9.30am on Thursday, when the security guard intervened in an argument between a 21-year-old man and a woman at Blacktown Hospital.

The young man allegedly punched the guard, before stealing a set of car keys from an 80-year-old woman and driving away in her vehicle.

During his escape, several cars were damaged when he smashed into them in the stolen vehicle.

The offender was eventually taken into custody after coming to a stop.

He was taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment and remains under guard.
