Man arrested after terrifying carjacking near Brisbane

One man has been arrested and second man is on the run after an alleged carjacking west of Brisbane.

The two allegedly used a chisel and possibly a gun to threaten a father and son and steal their car from a petrol station at Helidon Spa yesterday morning.

A 20-year-old man was arrested late last night in Redcliffe after tyre spikes were used to stop the car he was driving but the other man is on the run.

The 20-year-old is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today on a string of charges including armed robbery, driving offences and possessing dangerous drugs.
