Man arrested after two people killed in horror crash with stolen 4WD

Two people have been killed after a stolen 4WD ploughed into their car at St Peters this morning.

The shocking accident happened just after 4.30am at the corner of Canal Road and the Princes Highway.

Police said it appears that a Hyundai sedan was travelling west on Canal Road when it was struck by a 4WD that had been travelling north on the Highway.

The male driver and passenger of the Hyundai sedan were both killed.

The male driver of the stolen 4WD was arrested at the scene and is assisting police at Newtown Police Station.

Police said the stolen vehicle had been involved in a police pursuit but that had been terminated prior to the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.
