Man arrested after woman allegedly kidnapped and brutally bashed

A woman has been brutally bashed after allegedly being kidnapped and held hostage inside a unit on the NSW South Coast.

Police said they were called to a domestic disturbance at the unit on the Princes Highway at Bombaderry at around 2am this morning.

On arrival, officers found a 30-year-old woman with multiple facial injuries.

It’s alleged the woman had been assaulted by a 51-year-old man who was allegedly holding her inside the property against her will.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital with fractured wrists, a fractured nose and cheek and other facial injuries.

The 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Nowra Police Station.

He has since been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm, and kidnap with intent to commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court today.
