Man bashed with metal pole after confronting alleged ATM burglar

A MAN is in hospital with serious head injuries after being attacked by an alleged ATM burglar west of Brisbane.

It’s understood the victim was checking on an alarm at the Brightview tavern around 3.25am on Wednesday when he was confronted by a man who was allegedly trying to break into a teller machine.

The offender allegedly bashed the man over the head with a metal pole before fleeing the scene empty-handed.

The injured man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Investigations into the attempted break-in and serious assault continuing.
