Man bashed and robbed in his own car

A man has run for his life after being set upon while sitting in his car in Sydney’s south-west.

The 47-year-old man has told Police he was parked on the corner of South Terrace and Punchbowl Road in Punchbowl about 4.45pm on Saturday when he was approached by another man.

He spoke to him through the driver’s side window about a woman he had organised to meet.

The man then opened the rear driver’s side door and got in the car.

Two more men followed – one sitting in the front passenger seat, whilst the other got in the back.

All three men began punching the driver in the face and torso.

He got out of the car but was followed and continued to be assaulted on the roadway.

The injured man managed to break free and run to a nearby licensed premises for help.

The three men ran off with the victim’s mobile phone and car keys.

They were last seen running north along South Terrace towards Bankstown.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Bankstown Hospital with suspected facial fractures and a broken nose.

Police set up a crime scene and are now looking for the three men who are all described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and aged in their 20s.
