Man bashed to death in brutal fight

A MAN has been bashed to death and another seriously injured in a brutal fight in the NSW Hunter region.

Police were called to reports of two men fighting in Donald Street at Hamilton about 3.30am on Friday.

When officers arrived, however, they were told the men had left the area in a vehicle driven by a third man.


A short time later, officers attended a home unit on Cody Street where they located the body of a 51-year-old man.

A 23-year-old man was also found at the address, suffering from serious head injuries.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for surgery.

Crime scenes have been established at the Cody Street home and on Donald Street.

Local detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
