A good Samaritan who tried to break up a fight between a man and woman in Sydney is now fighting for his life in hospital.
According to police, the 55-year-old was hit in the face with the scooter by a 21-year-old man after saying something to him as he argued with a young woman while walking along a Marrickville footpath about lunchtime on Saturday.
The older man fell to the ground and was later found with head injuries and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The 21-year-old was on Sunday charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and is due before Newtown Local Court on Monday.
