Man beaten unconscious with iron bar during out-of-control teenage party

A MAN’S been savagely attacked with an iron bar by a group of teens during an out-of-control party on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the man in his 40s was targeted when he stopped several youths from lighting a large fire in the front yard of his Helensvale home shortly after 10pm on Sunday.

It’s alleged up to three teens – who’d reportedly been given access to the front yard of the Discovery Drive home – hurled rocks and pieces of wood at the man, before allegedly beating him unconscious with an iron bar.

Multiple police crews, including the dog unit, swooped on the address but were unable to track down the main offenders who’d fled the scene.

The man was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition with significant injuries to his head, a broken foot and suspected punctured lung.

It’s understood the youths are known to police.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
