Man belted with golf club in savage Scenic Rim attack

A MAN has been bludgeoned with a golf club in a savage attack at a house in the Scenic Rim.

It’s understood the 32-year-old victim became embroiled in a fight with a 38-year-old man at a house on Church Street in Boonah around 8.30pm on Saturday.

During the altercation, the older man allegedly brutally belted the other with a golf club, leaving him with injuries to his arm and neck.

The two men are known to each other, police confirmed in a statement.

The victim was assessed by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Boonah Hospital for treatment.

Police were called and eventually detained the man’s alleged attacker who had fled the scene and tried hiding out in a licensed premises nearby.

The 38-year-old Dugandan man was arrested and has since been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and enter dwelling with intent.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 10.
