Man belted with nail-studded piece of wood in Sydney domestic

A MAN has allegedly used a nail-studded piece of wood to belt his girlfriend’s brother across the head during a domestic disturbance at a house in Sydney’s south.

Police said an altercation took place between two men aged 42 and 33 at a house on Jinnah Road in Peakhurst Heights around 1pm on Friday.

It’s understood the younger man is in a relationship with the older man’s sister, police said.

During the altercation, the 33-year-old allegedly struck the 42-year-old in the face with a piece of wood which had nails protruding from it, causing a deep laceration.

Detectives established a crime scene at the address and the victim was taken to St George Hospital with serious injuries.

The 33-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with wounding a person with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence related).

He was remanded in custody on Friday night and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday where he was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Monday.
