Man bitten by police dog after dramatic chase across Gold Coast

A MAN has been bitten by a police dog after leading officers on a wild pursuit in an alleged stolen car.

The chaos unfolded in Southport about midday today, when officers spotted a vehicle that had allegedly been reported stolen from Ashmore.

Both officers on the road and PolAir tracked the car as it sped through coast streets before making its way into Gilston.


Police attempted to arrest the driver, however he allegedly rammed a police vehicle before trying to run from officers.

He was eventually chased down and bitten by a police dog before being taken into custody.

He’s since been taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC charges are expected to be laid.
