Man brutally bashed with chair, metal pole in Qld home invasion

A MAN has had several of his ribs broken after he was punched, kicked, bashed over the head with a chair and belted with a metal pole in a horror home invasion in Queensland.

Police said four people forced their way into a home on Bellmere Road at Bellmere, north of Brisbane, just after 4am this morning.

A 45-year-old man asleep inside was woken by the sound of the intruders rummaging through his lounge room.

Police said the occupant was brutally attacked after getting out of his bed to investigate the noise.

On entering the lounge room, the 45-year-old man was allegedly kicked, punched, struck in the back of the head with a chair and belted across his back with a metal pole.

The offenders then fled the scene in an unknown direction. They remain at large.

The injured man sustained multiple lacerations, bruising, and broken ribs. He was transported to the Caboolture Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around 4am to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
