Man builds irrigation system in Gold Coast unit to water cannabis crop

POLICE have uncovered a “sophisticated” cannabis crop growing in a unit on the Gold Coast.

Officers from the Rapid Action Patrol raided the Township Drive unit at Burleigh Heads on Wednesday.

During the raid, officers allegedly found a large quantity of cannabis growing throughout the residence.

A makeshift irrigation system was built to water cannabis plants growing in the upper part of the unit.

Police said nine mature plants were found in one room, growing under a sophisticated lighting system.

They said several other plants appeared to have already been harvested.

A downstairs bathroom was allegedly used as a drying room to dry out the freshly harvested cannabis buds.
