Man burnt in ferocious fire at Sydney cardboard factory

A MAN has suffered burns to his face and hands following a factory fire in Sydney’s west.

Police said the blaze broke out in a cardboard factory on Kommer Place at St Mary’s just before 12.30pm.

A male employee sustained minor burns to his face and hands trying to extinguish the inferno.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene. There were no other employees in the factory at the time.

Fire crews worked hard to stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

Once the site has been declared safe, the factory building will be examined by specialist personnel from NSW Police and Fire & Rescue NSW in an effort to determine the cause.
