Man busted child grooming with police posing as 13yo girl online

Detectives have charged a man with child grooming offences online.

In August 2015, officers from the Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) received information about the online activities of a man.

As a result, police conducted covert investigations and assumed the identity of a 13-year-old girl to communicate with the man via social media.

During the conversations it’s alleged the man repeatedly made sexually explicit remarks regarding the sexual exploitation of young children.

Following subsequent inquiries, detectives attended a home on Kissing Point Road at Ermington about 9.30am yesterday.

A 52-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with using a carriage service to groom a person under 16 years of age; and using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication to a person under 16 years.

He was given strict conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 20 January 2016.
