Man accused of drink-driving with ‘unrestrained’ 4yo son in car

A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught drink-driving in NSW with his four-year-old son unrestrained in the car.

Police were alerted to the man after witnesses became concerned after watching him try and park an SUV on Auburn Street in Goulburn around 4pm yesterday.

Officers were told the driver had mounted the kerb while reverse parking, then fell out of the vehicle into the street.

The man returned a positive breath-test at the scene and was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where he returned an alleged reading of 0.175.

The man, whose age is not known, was charged with a high-range PCA offence as well as drive with unrestrained passenger four to seven years.

His licence was suspended, and he’s been conditionally bailed to appear in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 12 August.

Police say the little boy was taken home by family members and a child-at-risk notification has been made to the Department of Communities and Justice.
